Each mill produces recycled base sheet and which is then shipped to one of converting sites for finished good production. We are completely self-sufficient for all our recycled raw material needs.
Our combined output from the three mills is now over 100,000 tonnes per year.
Our Chesterfield site dates back to 1878 where it was acquired by Lipscome Co of London to develop a pottery business.
Northwood acquired the site in 2019. Today our Chesterfield site operates with a headcount of 42 people on a 5 day shift system.
Product capabilities are toilet tissue, kitchen towel, and facial products with a grammage range of 15 – 26gsm in virgin fibre or recycled fibre.
Northwood’s Disley site has been a manufacturing site since 1820 and was originally established as a cotton factory
By 1968,the mill building had been enlarged and a number of new structures added as it transitioned to a paper making facility. In 1989 Kruger Inc. took ownership of the site and in November 1994 work begun on the redevelopment of the present paper mill comprising the construction of a raw materials store, finished goods store and machine building together with electrical substation, gatehouse, water pumping station and new access road and bridge.
Northwood took ownership of the facility in 2009 and have undertaken a systematic approach to stabilising and investing in the business to ensure a sustainable manufacturing facility is in place and ready for further development.
The Lancaster site was acquired by Northwood in 2012. Since the acquisition Northwood have invested considerably in Safety improvements, people development and Machine Technologies.
In 2019 we expanded our Lancaster operation to include £2m investment in a state of the art converting line. The new converting line has secured the future of our current 41 employees and also a further 15 new jobs for local people.
Due to the expansion and rapid growth we have the opportunity for extra warehouse space on the site.
An integral part of the Northwood associated companies and critical in the supply chain vertical integration of our manufacturing businesses.
The positive impact the recycling business has on the environment is essential in todays modern operating environment.
Annually we source over 100,000T of recovered fibre, all from the British isles.
Due to the dynamic nature of the recycling operating team we are able to work with every size of recycling business.
Northwood recycling cover all aspects of the operations including logistics scheduling for multiple mills
